In August of each year, Sprague Family members are asked to sponsor charitable organizations for consideration of a gift from the P.W. Sprague Memorial Foundation. In considering gift giving, the Trustees of the Foundation give preference to organizations supported by one or more family members and organizations where family members serve or have served in the past.

In 2015 the Foundation awarded 45 grants totalling over $160,000.
